Why ToxinFreeMaterials Exists

The average American is exposed to dozens of synthetic chemicals before they even leave the house in the morning — from the non-stick pan they cooked breakfast in, to the shampoo they used, to the flame retardants in their mattress they slept on for 8 hours.

Most of this goes unexamined. Regulatory frameworks in the United States allow chemicals to be used in consumer products until they're proven harmful — a very different approach from the EU's precautionary principle. The result: thousands of chemicals in commerce with little or no safety testing.

ToxinFreeMaterials was built to close that gap. We research the chemicals, check the certifications, and recommend products that pass both the science and the quality bar.

What We Cover

Our Editorial Standards

We cite peer-reviewed research and government agency findings (NIH, NTP, EPA, CPSC). We don't rely on brand claims alone — we check third-party certifications like GOTS, GOLS, OEKO-TEX, and NSF/ANSI for water filtration.

When research is uncertain or contested, we say so. Our job is to give you the clearest picture we can of what the science actually says — not to overstate risks or dismiss them.

Affiliate Disclosure

ToxinFreeMaterials participates in affiliate programs. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how the site is funded.

Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial recommendations. We recommend products based on research, certifications, and quality — not commission rates. We will always say when we think a product falls short.
